PromptWriter (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use PromptWriter (the “Service”).
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: Your email address and password when you create an account.
- Input content: The text you submit when generating prompts.
- Payment information: Billing details processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: Translation history, categories used, tier selections, and credit transactions stored to provide the Service.
- Technical data: Anonymized IP address, browser type, and device information collected via Vercel Analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- To process your prompt requests through our AI pipeline
- To manage your account, credits, and purchase history
- To process payments via Stripe
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse
- To send transactional communications (e.g., payment receipts) — we do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent
- To analyze aggregate, anonymized usage patterns to improve the Service
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following trusted service providers, solely as necessary to operate the Service:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting. Your email address and translation history are stored in Supabase-managed infrastructure.
- Stripe — payment processing. Your payment details are handled directly by Stripe under their privacy policy.
- AI Model Providers — your input text is transmitted to AI providers (including Google and Anthropic) to generate your output. These providers process your data under their own privacy policies. We do not share your email address or account information with these providers.
- Vercel — hosting and analytics. Anonymized usage data is collected by Vercel Analytics using privacy-preserving methods.
- Upstash — rate limiting and semantic caching. Input hashes (not plaintext content) may be stored briefly for caching purposes.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information and translation history for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Semantic cache entries expire automatically after 24 hours. You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time by contacting us.
5. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including encrypted data transmission (TLS), hashed passwords, and strict access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data and encourage you to use a strong, unique password.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Portability: Request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing.

7. Cookies
PromptWriter uses only essential functional browser storage (localStorage) for theme preferences and session tokens. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking cookies. Vercel Analytics uses privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics that complies with GDPR and CCPA.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.
9. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
